WHY IS MADFIDDLE LESSONS RIGHT FOR YOU?

MadFiddle Lessons is a self-paced fiddle school for those looking for a clear pathway toward skill development.  The instruction is carefully-sequenced so that techniques and concepts are introduced thoughtfully and reinforced along the way.

Lessons are organized into chapters and include review sections designed to provide context and support accuracy, while multi-tempo practice tracks (available with and without lead) offer an effective way to develop timing and gradually increase speed.

The MadFiddle Lessons curriculum is built into a series of Guided Learning Courses, which provide a sequential (yet optional) pathway toward strong foundational skills and long-term growth.  While the MadFiddle Lessons approach encourages learning by ear, sheet music is provided for extra support.         â€‹â€‹â€‹

HOW TO USE MADFIDDLE LESSONS

MadFiddle Lessons allows you to progress at your own pace by replaying sections as you find helpful.  This is especially useful for breaking down complex techniques, playing along with the instructor and focusing on details that could easily slip by in a live setting.  Be sure to take advantage of interactive elements such as review sections and practice tracks to help monitor accuracy and gauge progress.

GUIDED LEARNING COURSES

Guided Learning Courses introduce concepts, techniques, guided exercises and repertoire in a pedagogical sequence with incremental challenges.  Guided Learning offers a structured pathway to help you develop strong foundational skills that support long-term growth.  For the full experience, we recommend you start at the beginning of the MadFiddle Lessons curriculum and use guided learning as the navigation system.

VIDEO CHAPTERS

Video chapters are a handy way to cue videos to the specific chapter(s) of your next lesson.  The 'chapters' tool is located on the video control bar, seen as an icon with 3 dots and 3 lines.  Simply click the chapters icon to view the chapter descriptions, then select the desired chapter.  The video will then cue to that spot in the lesson.  If you prefer to scrub through the video manually, chapter times and descriptions are also listed below the video window.

REVIEW SECTIONS

Review sections provide an under-tempo recap to help identify areas for improvement and reinforce your understanding of the material.  Whether you take this as an opportunity to listen or play along, review sections can help solidify melodic memory & muscle memory before advancing to the next section or increasing tempo using the provided practice tracks.

PRACTICE TRACKS

Practice tracks are a powerful interactive tool for developing timing, intonation and musical confidence.  Most practice tracks are provided with and without lead fiddle, so you can decide when you're ready to carry the tune on your own.  We recommend using headphones or earbuds to balance the sound of your own instrument with the practice track.

TEMPO CONTROLS

Tempo controls are located under 'settings' of the video control bar.  Slowing down the video may be helpful with deconstructing tricky bowing patterns, reinforcing techniques or listening to nuances that might be hard to catch at full speed.  This tool can be useful to refine details at all levels.    â€‹

MADCAST SESSIONS

MadCast Sessions are audio lessons that teach techniques, concepts and tunes without the use of visual cues.  These audio lessons use a similar structure as video lessons while encouraging deep listening.  As always, be sure to take advantage of interactive elements such as review sections and practice tracks to help monitor your accuracy of learning and gauge your progress.    â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹
